Digital companies in Germany are less affected by global issues than others

Global issues such as the war in Ukraine, skyrocketing energy prices and disrupted supply chains are not only impacting the international markets but are also putting stress on the digital economy.
However, according to Bitkom Research, in some areas digital companies in Germany appear to be less affected than other businesses. For example, rising energy prices impact them less severely and remote work is more prevalent than average among digital companies.
More than a third of the surveyed companies even plan to increase their investments in research and development this year. The IT sector is forecasted to grow by 6.7% in 2022, to reach sales of 113.0 billion euros.
A resilient IT sector which brings forward the digitalisation of the economy and the public sector is key to navigating through uncertain times.
