Christian Schiller

Christian Schiller is co-founder & CEO of cirplus. The procurement software facilitates buying and selling of plastic waste feedstock & recyclates, with more than 1.300.000 tons of material listed and more than 1.200 companies from over 100 countries active on the platform since going live in March 2020. The Hamburg-based company has initiated and published DIN SPEC 91446 - the new industry standards for high-quality recycling (Classification of plastic recyclates by data quality levels for use and digital trading - published in November 2021). By lowering the transactional costs for recyclates, cirplus unlocks new markets, helping companies along the entire value chain to make plastics 100% circular.
Before founding cirplus, Christian has built and scaled BlaBlaCar Germany as its first employee from 2013 until 2017 - today’s largest ride-sharing platform in the world with more than 80 million users. He then traveled the world for one year and witnessed the plastic crisis with his own eyes while sailing and surfing the oceans. He has studied international relations and law at the Universities of Freiburg, Nice (France), Dresden and the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy (USA). Upon graduating, he gathered first work experience in oil & gas with Baker Hughes, where he served as Assistant to the Senior VP & General Counsel. He is an Alum of the Fulbright Foundation and the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
