Katrin Bacic is the CEO of UNIO, the new European joint venture with the ambition to build Europe’s first constellation of communication with a dedicated focus on driving connectivity for automotive and broader mobility applications in the next years.
UNIO will provide super-fast and ultra-secure broadband connectivity services for mobile and stationary applications on the entire globe – no matter on land, in the sea and in the air. UNIO Enterprise is a LEO satellite operator, focused on delivering ultra-low latent broadband connectivity to mobile users as well as fixed applications.
Before joining UNIO she was managing director at Wayra Germany, Telefónica’s innovation and investment unit. Wayra is the largest open innovation hub in the world and covers seed to growth investments up to 25mn Euro per startup. Prior to joining Wayra she spent more than 13 years in various senior leadership roles at Telefónica in Germany and Spain.
She is a tech lover and passionate about creating collaboration opportunities between the startup and corporate worlds by bringing a global mindset and a great affinity for developing new business models and innovations.
As a speaker, author and member of various juries, Katrin Bacic makes an additional contribution to increasing gender diversity in the start-up ecosystem and putting diversity as a success factor on the agenda of companies.
