Susanne Dehmel
Susanne Dehmel has been a member of the Executive Board of Bitkom since October 2014, where she is responsible for the Legal & Security business unit and the topic of artificial intelligence.
She is a member of the Enquete Commission of the German Bundestag "Artificial Intelligence - Social Responsibility and Economic, Social and Ecological Potential". She also represents the business community on the Expert Council for Consumer Affairs of the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection and is on the Data Protection Advisory Board of Deutsche Telekom AG. For Bitkom, Susanne Dehmel also serves as deputy chairwoman of the Self-Regulation of the Information Economy Association (Verein Selbstregulierung Informationswirtschaft e.V.). (SRIW) and of Deutschland sicher im Netz e.V. (Germany Secure on the Net).
Susanne Dehmel is a lawyer and completed her law studies in Passau, Freiburg and Cardiff. Before she took over the area of data protection at Bitkom, she was responsible for the areas of copyright and industrial property rights from 2002-2009. She has been head of the data protection department since 2010. An important part of her work is the promotion of trust and security in the digital world and, in particular, the practical further development of the legal framework for the digital economy and society.
